Hello and welcome to my little corner of the Internet. Thanks to technology (like the Internet), many of us have shorter attention spans than we used to have. We are less patient, too. We expect instant gratification from Facebook, Instagram, and Tik Tok, and we quickly abandon a post or video if it doesn’t grab our attention immediately. I understand this behavior as I am prone to it myself. And this is why my home page is (hopefully) short and sweet, providing an “in-a-nutshell” overview of this site.

Project Bulging Belly is about my attempt to lose 80 pounds in four months utilizing intermittent fasting, ketosis, healthy food choices, and moderate exercise. Do I really need to lose 80 pounds? I think I do. I currently weigh more than I ever have in my life, and it’s time to change that for all sorts of reasons. Mostly, I want to feel better. And I want to reduce my risk of diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease, lower my blood pressure and cholesterol levels, and eliminate my sleep apnea, fatigue, and brain fog (yes, being overweight is linked to all of these issues).

If you’ve done the math, losing 80 pounds in four months means losing 20 pounds per month (which means losing five pounds per week). Initially, this seems daunting, but I believe that I can do it with the help of some good habits, a lot of consistency, and a little self-discipline. Another factor is accountability, which is where this website comes in. I intend to write daily about this journey, and I expect that at least a few people will be interested in following along.

This website is simple by design. It’s also simple because I am not a webmaster, so please bear with its minimalistic nature. Additionally, I have a full-time job, so the amount of time I can devote to the site is limited. Despite these constraints, I’ll post my rambling thoughts (and probably a few rants) on a regular basis, and I’ll provide some resources and tools for anyone wanting to lose weight.
