As I predicted, I gained some more weight yesterday. While it was less weight than I gained on Saturday, it was still two pounds. I think the reason for the lesser amount was that some of what was gained on Saturday was “eliminated,” and I expect that to happen again today given the high fiber content of my five-pound taco salad.
Today is a fasting day, so much of the weight gained over the weekend will come off. However, it’s become obvious that I really need to limit my caloric intake on Saturdays and Sundays. I could have avoided adding a lot of those calories by avoiding the tiny cups of ice cream, but that indulgence was one “last hurrah” since I’ll be eliminating sugar for (hopefully) the next couple of months.
I guess I’ll try to stick with the vegetarian salads from now on, even on weekends. It’s strange that I get tired of the idea of them because they’re rather tasty and refreshing when I’m actually eating them. Perhaps my brain is just convinced that I need more variety. Maybe I’ll change the ingredients a bit and add something like avocado, or maybe I’ll get rid of the cheese. I need to try to keep the calories at about 1,200 to 1,400 per salad to ensure that I’m not gaining any weight from them and actually lose some weight on the weekends.
I also didn’t squeeze any significant physical activity in during this past weekend. My hamstrings were still really sore from leg day at the gym on Thursday, so I used that as an excuse to avoid getting my heart rate up on Saturday or Sunday. And, of course, Couch Potato Syndrome set in because work really wears me out. Anyway, if I get at least a little exercise in over the weekends and avoid going over my calorie limit, I should be able to at least maintain the weight loss that takes place during the week.
I don’t have anything more for this post. I think I need another cup of coffee.
