I didn’t stick to the plan yesterday. The plan was to fast all day, which I did, and treat myself to some of the chocolate-covered almonds I always refer to for the only meal of the day. Obviously, that’s not a healthy eating choice, but I figured I could still maintain a calorie deficit if I ate JUST the almonds. I didn’t eat just the almonds…

Yesterday was another really frustrating day at work. It was Friday, too, and I always feel like I deserve to cheat a little on Fridays to celebrate the temporary escape from my cubicle. I was really curious to see if I could pull off eating only the chocolate-covered almonds and still lose weight, but by the end of the workday, I knew I’d be stopping by P. Terry’s as well.

So, I stopped at HEB and got the almonds. Unfortunately, I also picked up some microwave popcorn. It’s become evident that the impulse buys at the grocery store are a real problem, but I never seem to think about that in the moment. Anyway, I then picked up my usual cheeseburger and fries from P. Terry’s and headed home.

There was no way I was going to lose weight, but I hoped maybe I’d at least maintain it. I didn’t. In addition to the chocolate-covered almonds, cheeseburger, and fries, I ate too much popcorn. Because of all the salt in the popcorn, I’m likely retaining water, but I was still disappointed when I stepped on the scale this morning and weighed a pound more than yesterday.

I need to be good this weekend. That’s a challenge because my friend wants to go out to eat. She’s trying to lose weight as well, so I may encourage her to delay gratification so I don’t feel obligated to abandon my plan to eat healthy. I suggested that we go to Jason’s Deli so she could eat whatever she wanted there and I could assemble a monster salad from the salad bar. I have yet to get a response to that suggestion. We’ll see what happens.
