Yesterday was kind of a strange day in terms of eating. My training class ended, and the instructor brought giant cookies for each of us as a reward for completing the class. A fellow student also brought donuts. I avoided the donuts somehow but devoured the cookie almost instantly. I skipped lunch and had just a coffee (although it did come with some flavored syrup), and for dinner I had shepherd’s pie (again) and some yogurt and blueberries. This morning I weigh three pounds less than I did yesterday morning.

I’m surprised to have lost three pounds. That’s typically what I lose on a fasting day. Of course, I gained a significant amount of weight prior to this week (especially over the past two weekends), so maybe that partly explains being able to lose weight without really doing anything special. I don’t know.

During the past two weeks, I succumbed to a Whole Foods ice cream sale. There’s a particular brand of ice cream that usually sells for eight dollars a pint, and I’ve always been curious about it but never tried it because I think the price is outrageous. Anyway, because of the sale, I tried several different flavors of it, and that probably explains most of the weight gain that’s occurred over the past two weeks. Because ice cream is basically milk and a lot of sugar (lots of carbohydrates and no fiber), it’s easy to eat too much of it before getting full. I’ve always been an ice cream fiend, and the Texas summer heat always makes ice cream especially appealing. Anyway, the sale is over, so I don’t anticipate an ice cream overload in the near future.

I’m up early this morning but still pressed for time to get some things done before work, so I’ll have to end here. I’m glad to be losing weight again and hope to sustain that downward trajectory into the weekend. We’ll see…
