As I’ve mentioned before, I’m not very good at rationing sweet things. Since this project began, I’ve had weekends on which I’ve indulged myself with purchases of chocolate, ice cream, or some other sweet treat. The plan in those situations was always to spread the consumption of those treats across the weekend. I don’t think that’s ever happened. And it didn’t happen this weekend.

Whole Foods had an ice cream sale, and Trader Joe’s had a couple of new pastries. I took advantage of both. I nearly put myself in a sugar coma Saturday morning by sampling my purchases earlier than I had intended. But I saved half of everything for Sunday. I got home from visiting a friend at about 2 am Sunday morning, so technically I did save half as I had intended, but by the end of the morning, everything was gone. And I gained four pounds.

Actually, as usual, my friend and I indulged in lunch and dinner meals that were not especially good for us: Rudy’s BBQ for lunch and Chick-fil-A for dinner (I have ethical problems with the latter, but my friend insisted). I typically don’t eat lunch, but my friend skipped breakfast and always gets cranky if she gets hungry, so we ate lunch.

I don’t have much else to say about yesterday. It was a disaster. And it wasn’t worth it. There was nothing special about the expensive ice cream I got at a steep discount or the new pastries I just had to try. The same goes for the lunch and dinner meals—they were good enough but not spectacular. I’ve said it before, but cheating should be worth it.

I’ll be more mindful of my eating this week due to the anticipated lower stress levels due to my training class. By the end of the week, I hope to be down by ten pounds. We’ll see…
