Yesterday was another day during which I didn’t really mind what I ate. The end of the work week was pretty stressful (applying knowledge acquired in training to my usual job), and I didn’t make it through the day without eating both lunch and dinner. For lunch, I had a burrito from the cafeteria, which included beans and rice (and a flour tortilla, of course), so the carbohydrate intake was high. It’s become my habit to celebrate the end of the work week by stopping by P. Terry’s after work for a cheeseburger and fries, so that’s what I had for dinner.
The one thing I did manage to avoid all day yesterday was sugar. My brain did not let this fact go unnoticed, however. I was really tempted to stop by HEB to pick up a pint of ice cream before stopping at P. Terry’s, but I resisted. However, even after arriving home and eating dinner, I was still craving ice cream, and I thought I’d probably give in and make a late-night trip to HEB to get some. I didn’t, though, mostly because I took a nap and slept past HEB’s closing time.
I didn’t think I’d lose any weight at all after yesterday, but I’m down two pounds today. As I mentioned before, I think the unexpected weight loss is simply because I’ve recently been exceeding my usual calorie intake by a lot, but in recent days I’ve simply managed it better. I certainly haven’t been running at a significant calorie deficit the past few days, but apparently it’s been enough to keep the downward trend going for five days now. Of course, now that it’s the weekend, that trend may not last since my ability to eat mindfully seems to be most challenged on the weekends.
Next week will be another stressful week at work, so I’m planning on eating salads from the cafeteria if I need to eat lunch. I expect that I’ll eat dinner as well, but I’m not sure what that will consist of just yet. I’ve developed this odd affection for shepherd’s pie lately, so I’ll probably have that Monday night. I’ll have to figure out the rest of the week when I have time. Anyway, it’ll be a challenging week, but I hope to be under 250 pounds again by the end of it.
