For some reason I completely abandoned the plan to fast all day yesterday. I think the problem started when I felt like I needed a third cup of coffee for the day and went to the cafeteria at work to get it. Rather than just getting a simple coffee, I got a butterscotch latte, which was loaded with sugar. Later in the day, I also had a couple of mugs of hot chocolate (despite it being 94 degrees outside). By the evening, the Slippery Slope phenomenon must have kicked in because I stopped by P. Terry’s for a cheeseburger and fries for dinner.
I still managed to lose a pound, but my complete lack of self-discipline is maddening. I made a plan for yesterday (fasting), and I didn’t stick to it. Today won’t be a fasting day because I need to finish the produce I purchased for my salads (I know, that’s the old Sunk Cost Fallacy kicking in), and hopefully I can stick to just a salad.
I guess I don’t have much else to say. I just seem to be stuck and rudderless. Friday will be a much-needed day off, so maybe I’ll actually have time to think about why I’ve fallen off the wagon so much lately. We’ll see…
