Despite yesterday being a non-fasting day, I didn’t eat breakfast. Skipping it wasn’t part of the plan for the day; I simply forgot. It wasn’t until I was driving to work and my stomach started growling that I realized I’d missed my morning meal. I didn’t eat until I got home from work in the late evening, and I probably indulged in too many cashews and too much cheese in my vegetarian salad. Also, prior to eating the salad, I ate what I was supposed to eat for breakfast (yogurt with blueberries and an apple). According to the scale, I gained a tiny bit of weight, but this is likely just the water and fiber from the salad, which will be “eliminated” after my morning coffee.
The reason for forgetting breakfast is probably due to my ongoing cognitive challenges. My brain seems to be in a constant state of fog anymore (this was the case prior to starting this project), which I attribute mostly to the fact that I never get a good night’s sleep. Ever. Once I get down to a reasonable weight, I’ll need to get back to addressing the sleep issue. The relationship between sleep problems (especially sleep apnea) and weight is a tricky one because weighing too much leads to poor sleep and poor sleep leads to weight gain.
As I mentioned previously, I’ve been frustrated by my lack of time and energy. Work wears me out, so the number of hours in the day during which I can actually manage to be at least somewhat productive are few. I’ve been especially discouraged by the lack of opportunity to flesh out this website. Ultimately, I want to have some sort of explanation of the dieting strategies I’ve tried to employ during this journey. I’d also like to have the books and tools sections actually listing the books I’ve read and the tools I’ve used along the way. I’m not sure when these things will happen, but I’ll continue to plug away and hopefully make some progress on those fronts soon.
Today is a fasting day, which is only the second one I’ve had this week due to the slip-up on Wednesday. I think I can still get down to 245 pounds tomorrow, but the big test will be what happens over the weekend. I’m going to try to mix things up in terms of what I’ll be eating (I just can’t eat the same thing on every non-fasting day), but I’ll focus on eating smaller portions and limiting myself to one meal on Saturday and Sunday. I hope I can get down to 240 pounds by Monday, or at least not gain any weight over the weekend.
