Yesterday was a fasting day, but I lost less than two pounds. I’m pretty sure that’s the least amount of weight I’ve lost on a fasting day thus far, so that’s disappointing. Wednesdays are my day off from the gym, so I didn’t get in much physical activity, but still I expected to lose at least two pounds. Friday is another fasting day, and hopefully I can get to 240 pounds before the weekend.
On four days during the workweek, I go to the gym during my lunch break. My workouts, as I’ve mentioned previously, are relatively short. I spend 12 minutes on the elliptical to get my heart pumping and then maybe another 20 minutes lifting weights. The amount of weight I lift is moderate at best because I’m trying to avoid further damage to my nearly ruined joints, so the number of repetitions per set is relatively high, but I only do three sets. Anyway, although diet is the most important factor in weight loss, burning some extra calories via exercise obviously helps (as does getting my heart rate up).
I keep trying to get in more exercise at home, but I’ve had difficulty finding the time for it. It seems like I have a lot of catching up to do on the weekends, especially with basic stuff like laundry and housekeeping. I also cook a bit on Saturdays and Sundays, which means I have to go to the grocery store and pick up things for whatever I’m cooking. As always, I try to incorporate some learning for work on the weekends, and I’m currently taking an online class geared toward helping me move on from my current job. Finally, I’m just spent on the weekends. My energy and motivation are shot, so it’s hard to be productive.
I keep acquiring home exercise equipment, however. I have an array of dumbbells and an exercise step but have yet to make much use of them. I took a risk by splurging on a climber contraption hoping that it would help me get some cardiovascular exercise in on the weekends since I have no elliptical machine at home, but it has yet to arrive. I did decide not to get an elliptical for home as they are expensive and likely prone to having parts that wear out, and I have no desire to take apart something that took hours to assemble just to replace a worn part.
Anyway, the climber contraption should arrive soon, and hopefully that will motivate me to find the time for exercising at home on the weekends. We’ll see…
