I’m starting to think there may be something wrong with my scale. Yesterday, there was a BBQ function at work, and I ate until I was uncomfortably full. I felt gross for the rest of the workday and figured that I’d blown through any reasonable calorie counts (in addition to sampling the barbecued flesh of four different animals, I also had some mac and cheese and peach cobbler) , so I picked up a pint of ice cream on the way home from work. Before last night, I hadn’t bought a pint of ice cream since this project began (although I’ve purchased single-serve cups intermittently—and usually more than one or two at a time). Anyway, I finished the ice cream in one sitting (this isn’t hard or uncommon for me) and assumed that I’d gained a couple of pounds during the day. But when I stepped on the scale this morning, I was actually over a pound lighter. So, I may need to purchase a second scale just to verify that the readings from the first are accurate. Today’s weigh-in and the weigh-in from this past Saturday (the 6-pound drop) make me think there’s something wonky with my scale.
I have to end this blog post here since I spent the morning brewing coffee, cacao, and matcha. The cacao brew is a coffee alternative made from brewing ground cacao beans that piqued my interest a while ago, so I had to try it. It was about as appealing as black coffee (which I’m not crazy about), but I’ll try it tomorrow with some coconut creamer. The matcha was about what I expected given it’s basically hot water mixed with ground green tea leaves: tolerable but not exactly tasty. Anyway, I’m trying to diversify my antioxidant-rich beverages, and I’ll have more to report on that effort tomorrow.
